Core Metrics Working Group
The National Alliance of Cancer Center Shared Resources (NACCSR) is a consortium that aims to promote Shared Resource-focused strategic partnerships and cross-center collaborations to accelerate discovery and translation, enhance access to state-of-the-art Shared Resource (SR) technologies and services, and facilitate the identification and dissemination of Shared Resource Management (SRM) best practices. The NACCSR Core Metrics Committee (CMC) is dedicated to evaluating SRM metrics and identifying best practices that ensure SRs are efficiently operated, effectively evaluated, and optimally catalyze research. SRM -related metrics include SR operations (e.g., services and staffing), usage, financial performance, and scientific impact. Importantly, the results of CMC studies will inform NACCSR recommendations to the NCI on the metrics required in both the individual Shared Resources sections and the centralized Shared Resource Management sections of the NIH/NCI P30 Cancer Center Support Grant. Moreover, while focused on Cancer Centers Shared Resources, findings from CMC studies may be broadly applicable to core facility management at universities and other institutions.
